Some students and parents feel the only goal of studying music is to play a composition without mistakes, and years of practicing are only to learn the more difficult pieces. Others, might ask " am I too old to learn or play the accordion? "
Music is a part of the fabric of our society. The intrinsic value of music for each individual is widely recognized in the many cultures that make up today's life styles. The benefits of music education can be grouped into four categories:
Accordion music education teaches more than just note reading and learning songs. Effective practice depends on the quality of practice, and practice quality depends largely on the practice habits the student has formed or is forming. There are many mistaken notions regarding "just practicing more" verses "what constitutes good practice". One may practice every day, but that does not necessarily result in the utmost benefits of scales and exercises obtainable through the guidance of a dedicated accordion teacher. Can you afford not to learn how to perform exercises correctly? An accordion teacher will provide you with the encouragement and confidence for seeking accordion opportunities that must not be missed.
The benefits of music education are further captured by the following:
" You are never too old for any kind of musical interest or instrument. If you want one, you NEED one! If you really like the instrument (or playing any music for that matter), it will be so much fun and so rewarding that you won't believe it! ... If you teach yourself, you can easily triple the time to achieve your learning/playing objectives. Your chances of quitting will also increase greatly. If possible, find an instructor YOU LIKE, or find people to play with to keep your interest up... Have fun and make music a part of your life. It will open a door to your soul. "
